We stayed at the Pulitzer Hotel in Amsterdam, and how very fortunate that I was able to use my Starwood points as we were there over Queen’s Day, one of the biggest holidays of the year for the Dutch.  I took plenty of photos; you’ll see them later.  I’d read some less than stellar comments about the hotel on www.tripadvisor.com, but the Pulitzer rates five stars in my book.  They gave us a large, quiet room (#124) with a door leading to a garden.  This really paid off on Queen’s Day.  When we wanted to escape the crowds — our room became a sanctuary.  They have one computer in the lobby hooked up to the internet at no charge that we used each day to check weather and emails.  The location is right on the Prinsengracht, about two blocks from the Anne Frank House.  There are plenty of restaurants to choose from within a short distance and we stayed in our area each evening for dinner.
