2010 England & Greece
Mykonos
Back at the hotel there was a momma calico cat and her baby playing each day in the hotel’s garden…they were very friendly. On my second day a British man explained that a French couple had been feeding the cats dry cat food and had left him the bag when they checked out. He, in turn, approached me.  So, I inherited the food when the British man departed. On my fourth day I purchased additional food for the kitties. When I checked out (I stayed five nights), I passed the food to a German man. It was all so continental. There was a solo gray cat always around when I walked by the front of the hotel. He mostly stayed around the outdoor portion of the breakfast room…smart cat. I could not get him to go into the back of the hotel where I was feeding the other two and someone pointed out the missing portion of his ear. Naturally, I could not let him go hungry.
Cats…oh, there were lots of cats on the island. While out one day I found a group of them looking famished by the Yacht Club where the cruise ships dock. There was a momma and three babies in the group. I went in search of a mini-market and brought back two large cans of cat food. More cats joined in the feast. The cats appeared abandoned and it broke my heart to see so many of them scrounging for food.

I enjoyed photographing cats, although they rarely stood still long enough for me to get the shot.
