Mykonos

Only one restaurant got high marks from me: Blue Ginger, an Indian/Thai/Japanese/Chinese restaurant not far from my hotel.  I had a Thai yellow curry with chicken and basmati rice. Dinner came to 18 euros.  (Note, 2014: this restaurant is no longer in operation.)

I had dinner one night at Pasta Fresca where I ate a Greek salad and pasta with walnut sauce. With bottled water it came to 20 euros. The pasta is made fresh daily, and you might catch them giving a demonstration outside the restaurant in the late afternoon. I tried Niko’s twice based on recommendations, but neither dinner was memorable. I had a decent lunch at La Casa.

Petros the Pelican is the official mascot of Mykonos.  The original Petros died in 1986 and three Pelicans were then donated to the island, with one of donations from Jacqueline Kennedy-Onassis.
